Federal Impact Aid

FEDERAL IMPACT AID: School Year 2016-2017
* Federal Impact Aid is a law that provides a way for the federal government to reimburse local school districts for the loss of property and business tax support associated with federally connected lands.
* The funding that your child’s school receives from the Impact Aid directly impacts his or her education by providing replacement funding for operating expenses such as materials, equipment, staff, special education programming, and building improvements as part of the general funding to FCPS.

WHAT CAN YOU DO AS PARENTS? – It’s simple: Each year your child receives the Federal Survey form that requests confidential information regarding his/her federal connection (including military dependents). Simply by thoroughly completing and promptly returning this brief survey, you contribute to your child’s school funding! Every student must complete this form each year.
* Incomplete forms cannot be submitted for Impact Aid; thereby creating a loss of funding for FCPS.
* Information provided is protected under Privacy Laws.

International Walk to School Day is October 5th!

The Marshall Road Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program is committed to helping provide our children with safe walking routes to school by working with the Town of Vienna on current and future sidewalk projects, as well as supporting other local elementary school’s SRTS programs and efforts.

Brian Daurenheim has been heading up the Bike Train and Walking Wednesday and is looking for some volunteers who loves to bike to help with the Bike Train and who can be at the school early to help with International Walk to School Day on October 5th.

International Walk to School Day is next Wednesday, October 5th.  We give away some goodies besides the usual “toe tokens” and have a banner for the kids to sign. We want to have goodies at both the usual corner of Marshall Rd as well as at the Dellwood side of the school, so we need two sets of volunteers. If you can volunteer for help out with International Walk to School Day, please sign up here.

We have Bike Trains on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, except during the winter. We particularly need help with the afternoons but would be grateful for any help! If you are interested, please sign up here.

Running with the Stars registration is open NOW!

The Running with the Stars program involves students throughout Loudoun and Fairfax Counties in Virginia.  Participants train before school two times a week with a coach, typically a parent or teacher, to prepare for a 5K run/jog.  This is a non-competitive activity where we encourage the kids to strive for their own personal best. Our goal is to promote overall health and an interest in exercise.  Ultimately, the kids will have a great time being active with their friends and build confidence along the way.
Practice will be held twice a week on Mondays and Fridays from 8:15am to 9:10am and will meet in the gym. We will run/train outdoors, weather permitting.  In case of bad weather, we will practice in the gym.  If FCPS is closed or opens on a delay schedule, we will not meet that day. Minimum enrollment of 10 students required to hold this program. Max enrollment: 50
Registration for Fall 2017 session will begin August 24th and ends September 17th.  FREE REGISTRATION FOR STUDENT IF A PARENT SIGNS UP TO BE AN ASSISTANT COACH!
Fall Season practices begin the week of September 18th.  Practices will end by November 30th.
The RWTS end of season 5K fun run is scheduled for December 3rd at 8am in Ashburn!
