Please join us for a second Town Clean Up day, Saturday March 3rd from 9:00AM – 11:00 AM.  This is one of our 50 for 50 service projects and we need 50 volunteers  – students, teachers, parents, siblings, friends, etc.   We will meet at Marshall Road Elementary School and will be cleaning up the creek beds along Nutley St across from the school.  As part of this clean up effort, an ecologist from the Town of Vienna will discuss the impact of litter and debris on the ecology.  The Town will provide gloves and trashbags.  Please bring rakes and dress appropriately.  Doughnuts provided for volunteers.

To Celebrate Read Across America Week & Dr. Seuss’ Birthday!

MARCH 1, 2012

6:30-7:30PM

Please join the Marshall Road teachers and PTA as we celebrate the fun and value of reading. This event is for the primary grade levels. Parents can join in as kids gather in classrooms around the pod to listen to their favorite teachers read some of their favorite Dr. Seuss books.  A Spanish reading will be available as well as arts and crafts. 

You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild,  To pick up a book and read with a child.

You can experience all the cultures our International Night has to offer by visiting the cultural displays where many families highlight their countries by providing food samples, displaying pictures, slideshows, jewelry, clothing, and artifacts.  During the second part of the evening, you can watch the Parade of Nations and the Annual Talent Show.  Many of our wonderful children will model clothing of their homelands or perform a special talent such as a song, dance or skit to represent their country.

And, as part of our International Night outreach, we hope to raise over $50 for Bridging the Gap Africa and help build bridges in Africa so that people may have safe access to medical care and education.  http://www.bridgingthegapafrica.org/
