FAMILY EVENTS (See Calendar for Specific Dates)
Ice Cream Social
In the Fall, students, parents, faculty and staff join on the playground for popsicles. A fun time for all and a great way to kick off the school year.
International Night is a very popular event at MRES with many components: display table with information, pictures, and food samples from 15-25 countries, a fashion parade and talent show, and other community building aspects. Please email email@example.com if you are interested in planning or have questions regarding the event.
Fall & Spring Family Fun Nights
Family Fun Nights are PTA-sponsored school social events held on a Friday evening. Past events have had a variety of activities and themes, including autumn crafts, fitness stations, food trucks, and a poetry and jazz coffeehouse. Our 2017 Fall Family Night will have a STEAM theme.
Pastries for Parents
These events bring parents and children together before school to share breakfast and talk. The PTA provides donuts and drinks. Gathering is 8:45-9:15am in the Cafeteria. There are two events during the school year, generally scheduled in October and February.
Read Across America/Dr. Seuss
Teachers, parents and school staff work together to bring Dr. Seuss and other stories to the children. Teachers read books to grades K-2. Crafts and activities also offered. Click here for more information about this years event.
The PTA coordinates, purchases and presents gifts to those who serve our MRES community during designated appreciation and recognition times during the school year. These recognition periods include School Bus Safety and Bus Driver Appreciation Week, Crossing Guard Appreciation Day, Custodian Appreciation Week, Administrative Professionals Day, School Counselor Week, School Nutrition Employee Week, and School Nurse Appreciation Day.
Staff Breakfast and Luncheons
The PTA coordinates food contributions and volunteer staffing for several annual all-staff meals during the school year, including a welcome back breakfast prior to the first day of school, a Thanksgiving luncheon, and a catered year-end luncheon after the last day of school.
Teacher Appreciation Week
The PTA’s Teacher Appreciation Week (TAW) committee coordinates with Room Parents and other volunteers to honor teachers, collaborating with the principal to plan a week of events around a selected theme. Past celebration events have included a teacher breakfast, ice cream sundae bar, car wash, mini-massages, prize raffles, dress-up spirit days, and many notes of appreciation.
